Happy Wednesday!

I took Gillian to the mall to do some shopping. Her sneakers were getting tight and she only had a couple pairs of summer PJs so we were having a mother daughter shopping trip. So she is at the in between size where she still is in the toddler section for somethings and in the girls section for others. So we ventured to the girls section to look at PJs. I ask Gillian,"Do you see anything you like?" Her response,"I want this."

I was slightly stunned and tried not to laugh. I explained to Gillian that with the genetics she has, it won't be long and to enjoy life as it is now:)

Incident

So I arrived to pick Gillian up at daycare last night and Mary met me on the sidewalk and explained that Gillian had just had an "incident". Immediately I think that her "incident" has something to do with her whiny/somewhat bratty attitude that she has had recently that Craig and I chalked up to lack of sleep. Nope, again my think the worst worked out.

Mary explained that a little boy (she did not give names) had shoved Gillian and she shoved him back. That the all sat down to go over what had happened and she made each child apologize to the other. Mary explained that although she doesn't believe in shoving she was happy that Gillian stood up for herself. I thanked Mary for telling me and she said she figured Gillian would tell us and I explained that she probably wouldn't but a nightmare of a meltdown in the future would probably bring it out because apparently Gillian was shaking she was so upset and could barely say sorry through the tears.

This is where it gets interesting and makes me chuckle.

So on the car ride home, I ask Gillian some questions about her day and try to get her to tell me about it. She doesn't budge. Later in the evening I directly ask about the shoving match at first she doesn't really offer any information and I explain that it is good to talk about stuff that upsets us and I wouldn't be angry. Apparently the little boy to go a location first and Gillian got to her location and decided to switch locations and the little boy didn't want her to switched locations and shoved her....so Gillian shoved the little boy to the ground (I was so proud in my head)...Gillian explained that she was upset and the little boy didn't mention that he had shoved her and the other kids stuck up for Gillian and told Ms. Mary exactly what happened. I talked to Gillian how it is not nice to push/hit/kick people but that she had a right to stick up for herself and it was nice of her friends to step in and tell the truth.

I asked her if she would tell her Dad about the "incident"...she asked me to tell him. Ironically I think he will be able to enjoy hearing it from me rather than her....

Relay for life

I have been walking for March for Babies for past 4 years. I've recently started donating blood (which I really enjoy doing, morbid I know). I enjoy doing things that help others.

I have recently joined a team for the Relay for Life. The name of the team is Rand Hill Renegades. The captain of the team participated in the Relay for Life last year and recently has a close family member diagnosed with cancer. If you would like to sponsor me, please go to:

http://main.acsevents.org/goto/BarbaraMiner

I'm also selling raffle tickets (that have really cool prizes and are reasonably priced) and luminaries.

Cancer effects so many people and people of all ages. This is a phenomenal organization that is trying to stop cancer from claiming lives.

The event is June 18th, please feel free to come join. Gillian and I will be attending. Hope to see you there!

Happy Wednesday!

I try to find humerus things for Wednesday because normally I'm working and it's half way through the week....

Gillian got out of the car and realized that Dad had drove over her chalk with the lawn mower - she yells,"Oh my gosh! My chalk!" Totally dramatic. We thought she would be upset but she turned it into magic chalk dust.

We have been having family walks in the evening. Gillian on her bike, Craig, Pooh and I do two laps. It's nice and relaxing. I'm in charge of Pooh and Craig is in charge of Gillian. So Pooh needed to stop to do her business so I stop so Gillian proceeds to stop and yell."Potty break!"

Hope you have a good day!

I'm around technology all the time. I work with technology (yeah most people would probably not guess that I do) and I use technology all the time outside of work. I have my blog, I have Facebook and I'm quite the txter (I still do not use T9). So I have decided for my vacation to try to take a break from technology....yup you read correctly. Craig gives me 2 days and when I whined changed it to 4 but we both know that will be a challenge for me. I'm going to try...wish me luck. Starts today!

The Girl with the Curls

Ah....this morning was a proud Mom moment. Gillian was getting pictures for dance so I made a hair apt for her before so she could get it done all cute (I have zero hair skills). She thought she was a princess and enjoyed every minute of it. I have a true girly girl on my hands and it is fun. She is so cute and was so good at sitting while Bonnie did her hair. I have tons of pictures which I'm dying to share.

Happy Mother's Day

I woke this morning with a splitting headache from an evening out last night. Well it started with a wedding that lead to an evening out. We had a lot of fun but waking up with my ears ringing from the insanely loud music at the bars.

For Mother's Day we were going to lunch with Craig's family and a BBQ with my family for dinner. Both were extremely nice. In between the meals, everyone in the house slept except me.

Pink Eye

I got a call at about 10:30 (while I was at the dump recycling) from daycare. I hate when daycare calls because I'm always scared something really really bad has happened. Ms. Mary informed me that Gillian had pink eye. So I told her I would be there ASAP and called the doctor to find out when they could see her and got an apt at 11:30.

So when I arrived to get Gillian she was already separated from the other kids but I wasn't expecting what I saw. I've had pink eye and the blood shot eye that is crusty. Her eye gives this a whole new meaning to me. Yes her eye is slightly pink but the green/yellow goop coming out of it is down right disgusting. It's almost like a running nose but from her eye. Hope I have painted a good picture...it's nasty. So now I'm in the process of cleaning everything so we don't all get it. Happy times!

Stressful Day

Today was stressful. Everything that came in at work was a mess and a headache to try to fix and it was issue after issue. Nonstop all day. So needless to say I tried my best to unwind prior to picking Gillian up but failed miserably.

I got out of the car to go get Gillian and sign her out. Ms. Kathy was there and told me what a wonderful child I had and how Gillian always makes her laugh. My stress was starting to fade. Then Gillian saw me coming and a big smile spread across her and my stress drifted away. And then Gillian showed me she had two dandelions, one for me and one for Craig for our Anniversary. I smiled and said thank you. I forgot about my day and how awful it was and focused on the happiest child who is living without a care in the world. It was the best ending to a terrible day......

Fitting in...

This morning was much better than yesterday! There were smiles and everyone was in a much better mood. Makes starting the day so much better.

So we have had the kitten for 3 weeks and we are all adapting well. I would say the adjustment was hardest on Pooh Bear and Gracie getting use to each other. I think Pooh thinks she is Gracie's Mom because she cleans her at least once a day and if Gracie cries Pooh is right in her face checking what is wrong. I think Gracie thinks Pooh is her Mom too because if she can't find Pooh, she'll start to cry. It is very cute. I think the kitten has restored some of Pooh's youthfulness as Pooh is getting on in years. They play together which is funny to watch a 90 pound dog and a 2 1/2 pound kitten do but they make it work. I think Gracie is fitting in just fine and I think we are all glad that we made the addition......

Falling behind....

I want to apologize that I haven't been keeping up with the blog like I should...with the nice weather, an energetic 4 year old and a husband that works a different shift than me somethings come before the blog. I'm going to do my best to keep up but some weeks I fall behind.

Today, Gillian woke up in a mood that was AWFUL! There is no other way to describe it. I think it was from being tired but it was still horrifying to deal with. She just wouldn't cooperate or listen. Hello hormones at 4 years old! As hard as it is sometimes to be patient we have to remind ourselves that she isn't like us and can survive on little sleep.

By this evening she was better but still not quite herself. She played outside on her swing set and the family went for a walk/bike ride around the development. She is good at riding her bike but she struggles with paying attention to where she is located on the road....she concentrates on pedaling that she is all over the place so we constantly have to remind her out of the middle of the road. She'll get it...she always does....
